Marco Lau

Marco Lau graduated his M.Mus. at Utrecht Conservatorium, Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht with Maestro Alan Weiss and Prof. Sebastián Colombo.  He has also received the B.Mus. diploma under the guiding of Prof. Martijn van den Hoek and Prof. Sebastián Colombo.  Throughout the last years of professional piano study, Marco has been influenced by the Italian Maestro Vicente Scaramuzza’s Piano school which introduced by Prof. Sebastián Colombo who was in the school from Maestro Vicente Scaramuzza.

Marco has had master-classes with Eldar Nebolsin, Carles Julià, Carmen Piazzini, Jordi Mora, Nora Doallo, Daniel Rivera, Mirabela Dina, Akiko Ebi, Pietro De Maria, Daniel Waayenberg, Nigel Claton, Jun Kanno, Diane Andersen, Paolo Giacometti, Klára Würtz, David Kuijken, Johan Schmidt. Marco is an active festivals and summer courses attender, like Sommer Academie Radolfzeel am Bodensee Germany, Musica Aeterna Warve Belgium International piano week, Franz Liszt festival Zaltbommel.

Marco has won different competitions since young in Hong Kong, he has also won "Aanmoedigingsprijs" from Prinses Christina Concours in the Netherlands.

As a soloist, Marco gave different solo piano recitals all over Europe, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Belgium and Hong Kong.  Also, Marco loves to share the joy of music with different musicians, he has been playing with different musicians as piano concerto with symphony orchestra, string quintet, Quatre mains, 2 pianos, clarinet trio, flute trio, piano quartet.  He has also accompanied different instrumentalists and singers.

Since Marco has returned from the Netherlands, he acted as a Music Director. Numerous of Marco’s piano students are the champions from “HKSMF”.  Marco has been actively engaged with different types of concerts and musicians in Hong Kong e.g. Sammi Cheng.  Furthermore, Marco is currently providing private piano classes and accompanist for singers and instrumentalists for the ABRSM graded examinations.
